The True Grit run meanders through the forest at the base of the San Juan Mountains where True Grit was filmed. The courses run on single-track trails and fire roads on five private ranches only accessible by participating in this event. The spectacular scenery includes views of the San Juan Mountains, the True Grit barn, wildflower valleys and the abundant majestic elk. This run is truly a unique experience!

Half Marathon Welcome & Opening Announcements at 8:15 AM
Half Marathon Run Starts at 8:30 AM

5K Welcome Announcement at 8:45 AM
5K Run starts at 9:00 AM

MANDATORY: Bring a hydration pack or handheld water bottle on the course, this will keep you hydrated between water stations.

There will be 3 water stations on the half marathon course and 1 water station on the 5K course.
There will be water, drinks and snacks at the finish line.

Finish Line – Receive your finisher mug
There is a race component and podium prizes
There are three female and three male winners for each course – that’s 12 total podium prizes

John Wayne Grit Series and John Wayne Cancer Foundation Merchandise available to purchase at the event.

COURSE INFORMATION

The True Grit run meanders through the forest at the base of the San Juan Mountains where True Grit was filmed.
Both courses are chip timed for those who want to race or you can go can go at your own pace.
You’ll be rewarded with a finisher mug and the satisfaction of knowing that you stepped up to the challenge and helped fight cancer!

The elevation at Ridgway is between 10,000 and 11,000 feet.
